THE CHALLENGE
For one of GPT's clients, Fuel Cells powered well pads in the Northeast US. The fuel cells required frequent firmware updates, encountered electronics issues, and bundles failed every 12–18 months at a cost of $7,000 – $8,000 per bundle replacement.
Due to the frustration of fuel cell failure and constant, laborious firmware updates, the client reached out to GPT for a reliable and cost-effective power solution to replace the fuel cell technology.

THE SOLUTION
GPT replaced the fuel cell bundles with Model 1120 thermoelectric generators (TEGs). With a solid-state design and no firmware updates required, the 1120 was the perfect solution for continuous, uninterrupted power delivery.
By replacing the fuel cells with TEGs, long-term operating costs are drastically reduced, saving the client thousands in both parts and labour associated costs.
Only preventative maintenance, once per year, is required for a TEG which offers a 20-year design life.
